About the Role
A Backend Engineer is needed to build and optimize high-performance systems that enable scalable user experiences. This role involves partnering with product, design, and engineering teams to create solutions that drive business priorities. Collaboration, problem-solving, and technical judgment are key in shaping the future of Co–Star’s infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to align development with business goals.
- Break down complex technical problems, provide insights, and articulate tradeoffs in written documentation.
- Write clean, well-documented, and well-tested code that ensures long-term system reliability.
- Take ownership of end-to-end delivery, moving quickly while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Optimize system scalability, performance, and reliability.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of software engineering experience, with some knowledge of Haskell (production experience is not required).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and PostgreSQL databases.
- Strong documentation and testing skills to ensure maintainable, scalable code.
- Ability to articulate technical tradeoffs and make balanced decisions that optimize speed and quality.
- A problem-solving mindset, with a focus on building solutions that improve user experiences.
